About Us
This site is the digital project of the Angelo Marchetti Artists' Association (ADAAM), a cultural association founded in 2012 to foster knowledge and wider appreciation of the work of Angelo Marchetti (Milan, 1930–2000), painter, sculptor and engraver. The association is chaired by the artist's son and brings together his heirs, who safeguard the legacy left by their father: the paintings, sculptures, engravings and writings that accompany his trajectory. It is from this inheritance, familial before it is documentary, that the project takes shape.
A Living Memory
The aim is not to confine the work within an archive, but to keep it alive: to recount it, to exhibit it and to make it accessible to collectors, enthusiasts and to those encountering the name of Angelo Marchetti for the first time. Through the association's activity, the works are studied, ordered and published in stages, and the selection grows richer over time as the work of research and promotion continues.
Every work included in the catalogue is examined directly in the original. The method followed — recognition, numbering, the attribution of titles — is described on the Archive Criteria page.
The Nature of the Texts Published Here
The Archive is curated by the association, established and administered by the artist's heirs. This circumstance entails a distinction that we consider it our duty to state openly.
The commentaries on individual works published on this site are curatorial notes produced by the Archive. Their function is descriptive, documentary and contextual: they set out the medium, subject, dating and the position of the work within the artist's development and within the cycle to which it belongs. They do not constitute independent criticism and should not be read as such: those who write them have a direct interest in the promotion of the work.
The independent criticism presented on this site is historical, produced by third-party authors in periods and contexts wholly separate from the Archive. Each critical text is reproduced with full attribution to its author and, where available, with the bibliographical reference of its original place of publication.
The Archive does not alter or abridge historical critical texts so as to favour a reading advantageous to the artist.
Rights in Images and Writings
The rights in the images and writings of Angelo Marchetti belong to his heirs. All rights are reserved: the reproduction, dissemination and any other use of the materials published on this site are not permitted without the written authorisation of the Archive.
Proviso. The sole exception is images that the Archive has expressly authorised and identified as such: only these may be used, on the conditions specified in each case and subject to the obligation to credit the author, Angelo Marchetti, and the source. The absence of explicit authorisation is to be taken as refusal. The full conditions are set out on the Image Use & Rights page.
