Works by Theme
Angelo Marchetti's production is articulated into recognizable thematic cycles, each with its own formal identity and its own inner tension. Each theme is a gateway to a distinct part of his journey.
Horses and Centaurs
The horse is one of the most constant presences in Marchetti's work: a figure of strength and disquiet, never a mere naturalistic subject. In the centaurs the tension between instinct and reason becomes pictorial form. The canvases of this cycle stand out for their chromatic density and the power of the gesture.

Opere Nere
An autonomous and recognizable cycle, dominated by deep blacks and a radical chromatic reduction. The Opere Nere represent one of the most extreme moments of Marchetti's research: the figure emerges from the shadow or dissolves into it, in a balance between presence and erasure.

Sacred Art
Religious subjects — crucifixions, sacred figures, Gospel scenes — are approached by Marchetti with an intimate and introspective reading, far from conventional devotional iconography. Here faith is pictorial matter even before it is a theme.

Nudes on Canvas
The nude is treated with formal rigour and emotional sensitivity. The female figure becomes a pretext for investigating the relationship between body and space, between physical presence and inner dimension. A recurring theme throughout the entire production, declined each time with different compositional solutions.

Surreal
Watercolours, ink works and mixed media on paper in which narrative logic gives way to the free association of images. Mental landscapes, ambiguous figures, improbable architectures: Marchetti's surrealism is not programmatic but visceral, tied to a profound expressive necessity.

Figurative on Canvas
Portraits, single figures, interior scenes: figurative painting in the strict sense, in which Marchetti demonstrates the solidity of his technical framework. Works that document the continuity of his dialogue with the Italian pictorial tradition, reinterpreted in a personal key.

Landscapes on Canvas
The landscape not as a view but as a state of mind. Marchetti's countrysides, skies and waters bear the mark of a restless interiority: they are mental places even before geographical ones, built with broad brushstrokes and controlled hues.

Abstract Figuration
The border zone between the recognizable and the unrecognizable. In these works the figure breaks apart or recomposes itself, retaining traces of humanity within increasingly free structures. A territory of continuous experimentation, which occupies a significant part of the mature production.

Repoussé on Sheet Metal
In the repoussé works Marchetti abandons colour for matter: the sheet metal, worked from the reverse, brings the figure out as relief, in a play of light and shadow on the metallic surface. The gesture becomes pressure, the drawing becomes engraving. A core of works that documents his continuous tension towards three-dimensionality.
